The Rongai Route offers a peaceful approach to Kilimanjaro, starting from the northern side near the Kenyan border. This trail passes through untouched wilderness, with fewer climbers and great chances of spotting wildlife. Its gentle slope makes it one of the more manageable routes, though summit day is still a tough challenge.

Day 1: Rongai Gate (1,950m) – Simba Camp (2,620m)
Morning drive to Rongai Gate for registration.
Start the hike through forests and open land to Simba Camp.
Hiking time: 4–5 hours
Dinner and overnight: Simba Camp
Day 2: Simba Camp – Kikelewa Camp (3,600m)
Trek through moorland with increasing elevation.
Enjoy views of Kibo Peak and surrounding landscapes.
Hiking time: 6–7 hours
Dinner and overnight: Kikelewa Camp
Day 3: Kikelewa Camp – Mawenzi Tarn (4,330m)
Steep climb to Mawenzi Tarn, located beneath the rugged Mawenzi Peak.
Spend the afternoon resting or exploring the area.
Hiking time: 3–4 hours
Dinner and overnight: Mawenzi Tarn Camp
Day 4: Mawenzi Tarn – Kibo Hut (4,700m)
Cross the Saddle, a high-altitude desert between Mawenzi and Kibo.
Arrive at Kibo Hut, where you’ll rest before summit night.
Hiking time: 4–5 hours
Dinner and overnight: Kibo Hut
Day 5: Kibo Hut – Uhuru Peak (5,895m) – Horombo Hut (3,720m)
Begin your summit attempt around midnight.
Reach Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa, by sunrise.
Descend to Horombo Hut for rest and recovery.
Hiking time: 12–14 hours
Dinner and overnight: Horombo Hut
Day 6: Horombo Hut – Marangu Gate – Transfer to Moshi/Arusha
Final descent through rainforest back to Marangu Gate.
Collect your summit certificate and drive back to your hotel.
Hiking time: 5–6 hours
